Correspondence with Alma Mahler and Franz Werfel, ca. 1911-1952.

1 item is a partial draft by Franz Werfel of an essay about Gerhart Hauptmann, written on the occasion of the latter's 60th birthday; the essay was published in Die neue Rundschau in 1922 (and is reprinted in Zwischen Oben und Unten). Also included are 2 newspaper essays about Hauptmann: 1 from Felix Hollaender entitled "Bei Gerhart Hauptmann in Rapallo" (Berliner Tageblatt, 1928) and 1 from Robert Faesi entitled "Gerhart Hauptmann. Zwei Erinnerungsbilder" (1956; newspaper not noted). The latter was clipped for Alma Mahler, presumably by Margarete Hauptmann.
